Academic Personnel Certificate Program

Learn about the two options available for UC San Diego staff interested in completing the Academic Personnel Certificate Program.

Academic Personnel Services offers a series of courses through Staff Education & Development to assist staff in developing their knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • Academic personnel policies and processes
  • Employee relations
  • Payroll/Personnel System
  • AP On-Line Recruit.

Staff who complete all required courses in the Basic Academic Personnel series will receive the Basic Academic Personnel Certificate. The Advanced Academic Personnel Certificate can be earned by completing all the Basic Academic Personnel Certificate courses and all of the required Advanced courses. The courses may also be taken individually by those who do not wish to obtain a certificate.

Staff who began the previous Academic Personnel Certificate format prior to September 1, 2017 may contact the Academic Personnel team for more information regarding their certificate status.

A copy of the certificate may be placed in your employee file as a permanent record of your participation in this staff development program. You can review your training history at UC Learning Center.

Note: The certificate indicates that you have completed the Academic Personnel Certificate Program, and it may be useful documentation when you are applying for a new position. As in all cases, decisions about reclassification and hiring are at the discretion of the appropriate authorities according to university policies and practices.
