RCI Associated Programs

Associated Compliance Programs brings together UC San Diego resources that address specialized research compliance areas related to national security, sensitive information protection, and the responsible oversight of higher-risk research activities.

The following programs (accessible in the menu to the left) complement the university’s broader research compliance framework and promote transparency in research relationships, safeguarding government-sensitive information and providing oversight for life sciences research.

• Research Security Program — Guidance on UC San Diego’s research security requirements, training, and support for issues such as foreign influence, disclosure management, international activities, travel security, export controls, and cybersecurity.
• Controlled Unclassified Information — Information on identifying, safeguarding, and managing CUI in research, including principal investigator responsibilities, contractual requirements, and campus support resources.
• Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC) — Oversight and review information for certain life sciences research that could be reasonably anticipated to be misapplied in ways that pose significant risks, including PI responsibilities and institutional review requirements.
