Federal Flow Through Awards
Introduction to Federal Flow Through Awards
UC San Diego receives federal flow-through funding when a federal agency makes a prime award to another university or company, which then provides funding to UC San Diego through a subaward or subcontract.
NIH federal flow-through awards represent the largest volume of these awards at UC San Diego, although funding is also received from other federal sources.
Federal flow-through awards are treated as private awards but remain subject to applicable federal regulations, including Uniform Guidance and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs).
