Lactation Support Services
Recognizing the benefits of breastfeeding and in compliance with state law, UCSD provides employees who are nursing mothers with a private space and a reasonable amount of time to express milk.
Lactation facilities and access
State law requires the university to provide space close to an employee's work area where she can express milk in private. This can include private offices or lockable meeting space. Restrooms are not considered appropriate spaces.
- To find your nearest lactation room, visit this map of UC San Diego Lactation Rooms.
- For lactation room access:
- If there are no established lactation spaces near your work area, ask your supervisor about locating a suitable space.
The following facilities are part of UC San Diego's lactation program and are available to nursing mothers at UC San Diego.
- For lactation room maintenance, please email or call the Building Contact listed for the room.
- For your convenience, Medela Hospital Grade Symphony (model 0240108) Breast Pumps are provided for use in some of the rooms. However, you must supply your own Medela pump kit.
