Find out about Open Enrollment, when you can make changes to your health and insurance plans.

AboutOpen Enrollment is Oct 26-Nov 21

Open Enrollment is a window during which employees and retirees may change their coverage or add eligible dependents onto their health insurance.

Open Enrollment will begin Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 8:00 a.m. and ends on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. All changes are effective January 1, 2018.

Open Enrollment information will be mailed to your current address on record as of August 31, 2017. Watch for email messages in October and November.

All Open Enrollment materials will be available through UCnet.

During Open Enrollment you can:

  • Enroll in or change medical plans
  • Enroll in or change dental plans
  • Enroll in the vision plan
  • Enroll or de-enroll eligible family members (see eligibility fact sheet)
  • Enroll or re-enroll in Health and or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts - Enrollment into the Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) requires active enrollment each year.

Presentation Who should attend
Anthem PPO (UC Care, Health Savings Plan, Core) Employees or retirees who want to learn about our three Non-Medicare PPO plans and want direct access to providers without referrals.
Anthem Medicare PPO (UC Medicare PPO and High Option) Retirees or employees retiring in the next 12 months who want to learn about our two PPO plans for those enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B and want direct access to providers without the need for referrals.
ARAG Legal Plan Employees and retirees wanting information about our legal plan that can provide legal counsel for needs such as divorce, adoption, child support, wills, power of attorney, buying a home, foreclosure, moving violations etc.
Delta Dental/ DeltaCare Employees or retirees wanting information about our two dental plans. You will learn the difference between our Delta Dental PPO plan and our DeltaCare USA HMO dental plan.
Fidelity Investments Employees who want to learn a convenient, tax-advantaged way to save money for retirement.
Health Equity (Administrator of our Health Savings Account) Employees enrolling in the UC Health Savings Plan (HSP) or those already enrolled in the HSP. You will learn about the three tax advantages of having a Health Savings Account (HSA) and how to build your account to help pay for expenses after retirement.
Health Net Seniority Plus Retirees or employees retiring in the next 12 months wanting to enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan (HMO) with low, predictable out-of-pocket costs and like having one doctor manage their care.
Health Net Blue and Gold Employees or retirees who are not eligible for Medicare and want an HMO plan with low, predictable out-of-pocket costs and like having one doctor manage their care.
Kaiser Permanente Employees or retirees who are not eligible for Medicare and want an HMO plan with low, predictable out-of-pocket costs and are happy with the selection of providers within the Kaiser system.
Kaiser Senior Advantage Retirees or employees retiring in the next 12 months wanting to enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan (HMO) with low, predictable out-of-pocket costs and are happy with the selection of providers within the Kaiser system.
Liberty Mutual Employees wanting to learn about UC’s Voluntary Disability Insurance which provides the most protection for all types of disabilities. UC has expanded disability benefits to all employees eligible for full, mid-level or core benefits.
Optum Behavioral Health Employees or retirees who are not eligible for Medicare and will be enrolled in Health Net Blue and Gold or Kaiser Permanente.
UC San Diego Benefits Office Plan Overview Employees wanting a general overview of UC's health and welfare coverage.
WageWorks (formerly Conexis) Employees who want to understand how a flexible spending account (FSA) for health care and/or dependent care can help them plan, save and pay for expenses.
