The Volunteer Services Program supports UC San Diego Health personnel in their activities related to patient care, education, and research. Volunteers supplement but don't replace the regular professional staff, freeing staff to provide the highest quality of patient care.
About 650 volunteers participate in the Volunteer Services Program at any one time. The program offers year-round opportunities to people who can provide at least 100 hours of service during a six-month period (about four hours a week).
The program includes:
- Adults
- College students
- High school students (at least 16 years old) during the summer months
- San Diego community chaplains
