Faculty and staff: Find out how to work with the Office for Students with Disabilities to accommodate students.
What OSD does
Students engage in all university departments, programs, colleges, divisions and professional schools at UC San Diego. As a department within Academic Affairs, the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) is responsible for determining eligibility for modifications, adjustments and other accommodations for students with documented disabilities. Should you have any questions or concerns, please email the OSD at osd@ucsd.edu.
Your resource
OSD is a resource for faculty and staff, and can assist in a number of ways, such as:
- Working with individual students who are seeking modifications to standard policies, procedures and practices due to a medical/mental health condition that may be temporary or permanent
- Serving as a point of contact on disability legislation and best practices
- Adding value to grants and other external funding sources when disability information is included in describing diversity efforts, i.e. National Institute of Health, National Science Foundation
- Providing guidance in challenging situations involving multiple issues
- Working closely with campus constituents relating to disability issues involving teaching assistants, clinical requirements and external regulatory agencies
- Developing or updating technical standards for academic programs
