About Viterbi Family Vision Research Center

The Viterbi Family Vision Research Center, named after Andrew J. Viterbi, will host UC San Diego Health's first named department, the Viterbi Family Department of Ophthalmology. Viterbi's gift of $50 million is the largest gift the Department of Ophthalmology has received to date, and will establish not only the research center, but also 6 endowed ophthalmology chairs. Together with the Shiley Eye Institute, the Viterbi Family Vision Research Center will help UC San Diego stay at the forefront of transformational and curative eye research.
