About Price Center
Located at the center of campus, Price Center is a part of the University Center. With 122,853 square feet of assignable area and three floors, the building includes a movie theater and the UC San Diego bookstore, as well as meeting, lounge and event spaces. Since its occupation in May 1989, the Price Center has become a hub of activity for students, faculty and visitors on campus. May 2008 marked the opening of the Price Center expansion project. The architectural award-winning new extension, Price Center East, offers 175,000 square feet of additional space for new restaurants, office spaces, study lounges, a new night club called The Loft and more. The Price Center is named for Sol Price, founder of the Price Club retail chain, who generously contributed $2 million for the construction of the facility, which is now a focal point of the UC San Diego community.
