Located in Muir College, Mandler Hall is a portion of McGill Hall that serves as a laboratory and research facility for the Center for Brain and Cognition and the department of psychology. The building has four floors and 19,387 square feet of assignable area. Originally occupied in 1970, the building was renamed in 2003 to honor George Mandler, the founding chair of the psychology department at UC San Diego. A renowned psychologist, Mandler was a central figure in the cognitive revolution of the 1950s and 60s and a leading expert in the areas of memory, human emotion and consciousness.
