About Kaplan Lab
Kaplan Lab houses Scripps Institute of Oceanography's Experimental Aquarium, which includes research aquarium facilities, with seawater lines and rooms for controlled experiments, and also houses two wet-lab classrooms. The second floor is Kaplan Laboratory, named for longtime friends of the institution Charmaine and Maurice Kaplan. It encompasses laboratory facilities for the Center for Marine Biodiversity and biomedicine and is known for its work in microbiology and biomedicine.
