About Jacobs Medical Center

Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health is a 245-bed advanced medical center, named in recognition of a $75 million gift from the Joan and Irwin Jacobs family. The 10-story, 509,500-square-foot facility opened on November 20, 2016. Its medical services include advanced surgery, cancer care, cardiac rehabilitation, birthing options and more. Jacobs Medical Center also features one of the most advanced obstetric and infanct care centers, with three floors being dedicated explicitly to post-partum recovery rooms, labor and delivery rooms, operating rooms for cesarean deliveries, a specialized Birth Center for natural birth experiences, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with special provisions for family involvement and peace of mind. The medical center also contains the Thorton Pavilion which helps round out the superb care of Jacobs Medical Center with its own nationally top-ranked facilities and services.
