Joan and Irwin Jacobs Center for La Jolla Playhouse
About Joan and Irwin Jacobs Center for La Jolla Playhouse
This three-story, 34,899 square foot facility is located in the campus Theatre District. The space was occupied in February 2005 and houses administrative offices for the La Jolla Playhouse, classrooms, rehearsal rooms, a restaurant and more. The center includes the state-of-the-art Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre, a flexible 250-400 seat black box theatre that can be arranged in numerous ways to provide an optimal viewing experience for the audience during any performance. Funded by a gift from Joan and Irwin Jacobs, the Center supports the growth of UC San Diego’s renowned undergraduate and graduate theatre and dance programs, as well as the La Jolla Playhouse’s community education and outreach programs.
