Adding an Alternative or Co-Host to a Zoom meeting

Alternative hosts and co-hosts help the host streamline a meeting.

Alternative Hosts

  1. Alternative Hosts can be assigned when scheduling the meeting 

  2. On the scheduler window, scroll to the "Advanced Options"



  3. In the advanced options field, there is a text button at the bottom to add an alternative host to your meeting

Enabling Co-Hosts

  1. Sign into your Zoom account on ucsd.zoom.us 

  2. Click on Settings



  3. Make sure you are in the Meeting tab of your settings 

  4. On the left hand side right under the big "Meeting" heading, please click In Meeting (Basic)



  5. Scroll down until you see "Co-host: Allow the host to add co-hosts. Co-hosts have the same in-meeting controls as the host." 

  6. Make sure the toggle switch on the right is blue. This means this feature has been enabled. 


Adding Co-Hosts

Co-hosts can be assigned during the Zoom meeting. 

Option 1:

  1. Hover over the person's video 
  2. Click on the blue "..." icon
  3. Click "Make Co-Host"

Option 2: Using the participant's window

  1. At the bottom of the Zoom window, click on Participants



  2. Hover over the name of the participant you want to make co-host and choose "More"



  3. Click "Make Co-Host"
