Setting Up Windows Phone 7 for Mail using IMAP

Follow these steps to set up a Windows Phone 7 device to access your UCSD e-mail account using IMAP.

Before you begin, you need:

  • Your Active Directory username and password. Your username is usually the first part of your UCSD e-mail address before the @ symbol. If you forgot your password, reset it.
  • An account in the UCSD Campus Organization.
  • The name of the server that hosts your mailbox.
  • A device running Windows Phone 7.

Microsoft Exchange

If your e-mail account has been migrated, change the following in your e-mail client:

  • Username (full and official UCSD e-mail address): username@ucsd.edu
  • Incoming server: outlook.office365.com

1. Access e-mail settings.

  • Select the right arrow from the start screen.
  • Select Settings from the application list.
  • Select email & accounts.
  • Select add an account.
  • Select advanced setup.

2. Enter e-mail address and password.

  • Enter your UCSD e-mail address in the Email address field.
  • Enter your UCSD e-mail password in the Password field
  • Click next.

3. Internet email account.

  • Select Internet email account.
  • Enter your server name, e.g. mail.ucsd.edu for the incoming mail server.
  • Choose IMAP4 for the account type.
  • Enter your Active Directory username and password.
  • Enter smtp.ucsd.edu as the outgoing mail server.
  • Make sure Outgoing server requires authentication is checked.

4. Advanced settings.

  • Select advanced settings.
  • Select Require SSL for both incoming and outgoing email.
  • Click sign in.
