Get ready! By the end of the year, employees at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and our hospitals and clinics will be using Cloud Email!

What Is Cloud Email?

Cloud Email (a component of Office 365) provides anytime, anywhere, any device secure email access for Outlook. With Cloud Email, you’ll get an enhanced email environment: 

• Improved Outlook Web Access (OWA) interface
• Better search capabilities
• Unlimited archiving and an email quota of 99 GB for storage
• Plus, other features designed to increase efficiency and improve navigation of your mailbox

What’s changing?

After you are migrated to Cloud Email:

• You will use Outlook Web Access via a new web portal: HSemail.ucsd.edu. Notice the slight variation of the old portal’s address. Hint: see the e in email? hsmail.ucsd.edu will redirect to hsemail.ucsd.edu after all health sciences users are transitioned.
• To log in to Cloud Email via the web, you will use a variation of your email address that identifies you as a Health Sciences employee: username@health.ucsd.edu
• If you receive your work email address on a mobile device, you will need to reconfigure your settings

• Stay tuned for Health-specific notifications about Cloud Email and what you need to do prepare
• We will provide training on how to use Cloud Email
• We will notify you before we migrate your email, then after the migration is finished
• The Health IS Service Desk and in-person support will be available to help you get set up

Moving to Cloud Email supports UC San Diego Health Sciences’ long-term strategy to shift away from traditional data centers to a less expensive and more reliable and secure cloud environment to safeguard the organization’s important data.
