Sonya Wang

Assistant Clinical Professor, Department of Neurosciences

Dr. Wang graduated from Stanford University with Honors and Departmental Distinction in Biology and a minor in Psychology. She earned her medical degree at Vanderbilt University and completed pediatrics residency at the Floating Hospital for Children, Tufts Medical Center. She then completed her child neurology fellowship in at Tufts Medical Center and Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School. She further subspecialized her training in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital.

After her training, she became the medical director of the Epilepsy Program and EEG Laboratory in the Division of Child Neurology at Tufts Medical Center. In 2011, she joined the UC San Diego faculty as an Assistant Professor in Neurosciences to help develop and expand the epilepsy program in Child Neurology at Rady Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Wang is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Epilepsy. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, Child Neurology Society, American Epilepsy Society, Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society, and Professional Advisory Board of the San Diego Epilepsy Foundation.
