UC San Diego Outreach Charter

This charter outlines our shared approach to outreach and community engagement across campus and introduces a centralized database designed to strengthen coordination, visibility and collaboration among internal outreach partners.

Office of Student Outreach and Engagement

The Office of Student Outreach and Engagement supports UC San Diego’s commitment to access, equity and community partnership.

Outreach includes a variety of activities that expand awareness of higher education pathways, support college preparation and persistence and build meaningful relationships with schools, community based organizations and regional partners.

Our Goals

Through this shared outreach framework, we aim to:

  • Strengthen collaboration across UC San Diego units engaged in outreach and engagement
  • Increase visibility of existing outreach efforts and partnerships
  • Reduce duplication and promote alignment of resources and strategies
  • Support sustainable, community-centered partnerships
  • Identify Opportunities for growth

Benefits of Participating

By contributing to the database, outreach partners can:

  • Find collaborators with shared interests or complementary expertise
  • Promote programs and initiatives to a broader audience
  • Connect with internal and external partners who can support or expand their work

Use of Information

  • Your information will be included in a public outreach database on our prospective student website (outreach.ucsd.edu), initially available to the UC San Diego community and later open to the public.
  • If you prefer, your information can be used for internal purposes only and will not be published on our outreach website or shared with anyone without your consent.

Shared Commitment to Partnership

Outreach and Educational Partnerships supports UC San Diego’s work with K–20 public education partners, community-based organizations, and the business sector. These partnerships advance college preparation, access, and degree completion, particularly for students from low resourced communities. We value reciprocity, transparency, and long-term relationship building in all outreach efforts.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The UC San Diego community greatly respects the land and the original people of the area where our campus is located. The university is built on the unceded territory of the Kumeyaay Nation. Today, the Kumeyaay people maintain their political sovereignty and cultural traditions as vital members of the San Diego community. We acknowledge their tremendous contributions to our region and thank them for their stewardship.
