Cheryl Olson

Principal Analyst

As a Principal Surveys and Metrics Analyst, Cheryl will be instrumental in supporting the growing demand for assessments, data insights, and analytics. Cheryl has earned her PhD in Social Psychology from UC Berkeley, and brings over 25 years of experience in both quantitative and qualitative research design and analysis, as well as in turning the results of that research into reports and recommendations. Cheryl has extensive background in survey development and analysis and she has already made a significant impact and contribution to our campus in the work she has done for our VC-EDI Office where she worked to translate the new EDI survey results into compelling and effective reports and presentations for our Vice Chancellor of EDI.

In her previous roles, Cheryl has used her impressive knowledge, skills, and training toward making powerful and tangible impacts on lives. She analyzed State- and City-wide longitudinal assessments of suicide prevention efforts and reducing stigma surrounding mental health issues. She has conducted all stages of needs assessment, research design, and data analysis for projects on the part of city, county, and state agencies in the U.S. and Canada.  Cheryl also has experience with the Naval Health Research Center's study of recruit behaviors which developed research-based approaches to improving the health and well-being of the cohort of young recruits. This program involved a long-term series of assessments aimed at constructing models to predict future outcomes and success.
