Find out how much departments are charged for employer contributions to employee benefits.

Benefits costs

The costs of an employee's benefits are shared by the department and the employee. The UCSD payroll system automatically calculates the department's cost and summarizes this on the monthly Distribution of Payroll Expense (DOPE) report (PDF). These rates are revised twice a year, in January and July, and appear on the Schedule of Employer Matching Contribution Rates.
