Vanilla Visa Gift Card

Vanilla Visa gift cardPayment Services provides a Vanilla Visa gift card program that partners with Incomm. The program is accessible for all departments to order gift cards for employee rewards such as recognition, sympathy, retirement, length-of-service, prizes and other gifts. The program is also provided to research departments for Human Subject Compensation. Vanilla Visa gift cards have a load fee of $1.15 per card with no additional fees, can be used anywhere in the U.S. that accepts Visa, and the funds never expire. Cards can be loaded for denominations between $20 and $500.

Note: Vanilla Visa gift cards cannot be canceled or returned after issuance; therefore, departments are responsible for all incurred charges. We recommend only placing your order for the amount of cards you know will be disbursed.

Request a Gift Card Order for Non-Cash Gifts & Awards

Vanilla Visa gift card orders are requested through MyPayments.

MyPayments (login required) is an application used to request payments or reimbursements. All UC San Diego staff with Single Sign-On access can use MyPayments to create payment documents. You can also access MyPayments from the Business Tools drop-down menu located in the Blink header or at mypayments.ucsd.edu.

  1. Log in to MyPayments, create a document, follow the steps to place a payment request
  2. The request will require approval from your department head
  3. The MyPayments team will do a final review to ensure your request meets UC policy requirements
  4. Your order will be loaded and you will receive an email confirmation once cards are ready for pick up at the following location: 
    • Torrey Pines Center South (map)
      10280 N. Torrey Pines Road, Suite 415
      La Jolla, CA 92037
    • Metered parking is available on level 1 of the parking garage.

The turnaround time to receive your gift card order is 3-5 business days from when the order is approved by the department head.

Request a Gift Card Order for Human Subject Compensation

Vanilla Visa gift card orders are requested through MyPayments and our the University's preferred method to compensation research participants. There is less likelihood of fraud, less tracking, less work for participants, and proves to be an overall more cost efficient process.

You can also access MyPayments from the Business Tools drop-down menu located in the Blink header or at mypayments.ucsd.edu.

  3. The Banking Services team will do a final review to ensure your request meets UC policy requirements
  4. Your order will be loaded and you will receive an email confirmation once cards are ready for pick up at the following location:
