Career Counseling and Planning

Learn about career planning, one of the most important things an employee can do to expand professional opportunities. UC San Diego offers many resources to assist employees in career planning.

Resources for employees

  • Additional professional career counseling is available through UC San Diego Extension, including drop-in advising.
  • Employees may also obtain help in planning their career at UC San Diego by using Career Connection's free services:

    • Staff Mentorship Program
    • Internship Initiative
    • Informational interviews
    • Individual career consultations and resume reviews

Resources for supervisors

Staff Education & Development offers two courses for supervisors that include components on how to work with employees to develop their career potential: go to the UC Learning Center  and search for Supervisory Training Laboratory and Performance Management. Staff Education & Development also offers customized career development programs for departments on request.
