Institute for Management Studies (IMS)

Learn how managers and employees developing their leadership skills can enroll in Institute for Management Studies seminars.

The University of California subscribes to the Institute for Management Studies (IMS). IMS provides high-quality development seminars, available to UC San Diego employees who are:

  • In a management or leadership position
  • In a developing leadership role


The 1-day seminars are held in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and 26 other locations. Benefits for participants include:

  • The opportunity to interact with and learn from leading management thinkers
  • Coverage of a broad range of competencies addressing the needs of first-line, middle, and senior management personnel


A $385 per-course registration fee covers continental breakfast, lunch, and course materials. Your department head must determine if your department will cover the fee.


To register online:

  • Go to the IMS registration page (no user ID or password required)
  • Select organization: Scroll down and select University of California.
  • Enter your UC San Diego e-mail address and title to indicate that you are an eligible participant.
