ERS Recruitment Approach

ERS is committed to providing comprehensive search services tailored to the specific needs of our clients. We work closely with organizational leaders, hiring managers, and search committees to ensure a full understanding of the requisite and preferred qualifications for every search.  The number one goal is to build a pool of exceptional candidates and qualify each candidate before presenting them to our clients.  Our flexible approach integrates a search formula that has allowed ERS to be successful in higher education.  This formula includes the following elements below.

Process Management

  • Lead a nationwide search by developing a strategic recruitment plan to attract passive and active candidates
  • Focus on understanding the culture, mission, vision, and goals of our clients. Through meetings and conversations with key stakeholders, we identify required and preferred experience and skills necessary for a successful candidate.
  • Develop an advertising plan and draft a job announcement to attract qualified candidates.
  • Design a recruitment timeline including estimated dates for candidate presentation and interviews.
  • Maintain close partnerships with hiring officials and search committee chairs.
  • Conduct reference and background checks as requested.

Candidate Sourcing

  • Research and target senior level student affairs professionals at leading universities and benchmark institutions.
  • Seek out student affairs experts in a variety of fields to attract outstanding candidates.
  • Contact professional associations and member listings in related fields to direct outreach to both established and aspiring professionals.
  • Consult committee members and senior colleagues to solicit exceptional candidate nominations.
  • Use our ATS with over 2 million applicants to establish connections within student affairs positions.
  • Provide follow-up and personal recruitment contact with referred candidates.
  • Thoroughly pre-screen and pre-close candidates.
  • Focus on leadership and proven accomplishments.

Candidate Management

  • Use our UC knowledge and intake meeting to inspire prospective candidates to engage in the recruitment process.
  • Build solid relationships with candidates on a foundation of trust and honest communication.
  • Provide a consistent search process for candidates by becoming their primary contact.
  • Thoroughly answer questions about the position, the organization, benefits, the community, etc.
  • Regularly update candidates and finalists regarding their status throughout the search.
