Configuring the UCSD VPN Client Software for Use With Older NAT Boxes (Mac)

Give more feedback

Learn how to configure your Mac OS X with an older NAT box (Mac) to use the UCSD Virtual Private Network (VPN) to make a secure connection to the campus network.

Follow the listed steps to ensure that your VPN is working correctly. Some older NAT boxes have problems translating LAN to WAN. When this happens, the VPN client will connect successfully, but all applications start, hang, and eventually time out with a connection failed error.

Notes:

  • These instructions apply to the Macintosh 10.1 and later Operating System and Cisco Version 4.0 or above of the Cisco Systems VPN Client.
  • You need to know your UCSD network username and password. If you've forgotten your username or password, see Getting or Changing UCSD Passwords.
