MyDashboard Tutorial: Creating a Financial Chart in QueryLink

Follow this tutorial to create a chart in QueryLink, then save it in MyDashboard.
To access MyDashboard, go to the Blink home page and click the MyDashboard link.
To use MyDashboard, you need a Single Sign-On account and authorization to use EmployeeLink, FinancialLink, or Blink Student/ Class Info. If you need authorization, see How to Get Access to UCSD Business Systems.

- Click the Queries button on the top of MyDashboard.
- Under Financial Queries, click Operating Ledger Monthly Summary.
- Click the Period tab.
- Choose from the list on the Symbolic Accounting Period attribute. For this exercise, choose Last Fiscal Year.
- Click OK on the pop-up warning that asks you to choose between accounting periods.
- Click the Calendar Year and Month checkbox to add this attribute to the list that will return in your query results.
- Click the IFOPAL tab.
- Enter an index into the Index text field. For this example use ADC0031.
- On the lower right screen, click the Send Data To drop-down menu and select Chart Wizard.
- Click Submit to send the query to the Chart Wizard.
- Choose the type of Chart from the drop-down menu (types available are Column, Bar, Line, Pie and Stack). For this exercise use the default, Column Chart.
- Choose a Category (categories are attributes that fall on the horizontal axis of the column chart). Select Calendar Year and Month.
- Choose a Sub-Category (a further breakdown of the Category on the horizontal axis of the column chart). Select Sub Account.
- Choose a Value (an attribute that falls on the vertical axis of the column chart, usually money or integers that can be summarized). Select Financial Amount.
- Enter a chart Title, which will appear at the top of your chart.
- Click Submit to run the query against the database.
- The results appear as the chart you defined.
- Here's the chart created for Index ADC0031. When you use another index, your chart will be different.
- Add your chart to MyDashboard.
