How to Install Software for TN3270 on a PC

• From a UCSD computer or using the VPN, download the 3270_30.exe file.

Note: Be sure to remember the name of the directory where you saved the file. You will need it for Step 2.

• Within Windows, go to the directory and run the 3270_30.exe file. Click the Extract button when prompted.
• Running the TCP3270.EXE file will decompress a TCPSETUP directory, subdirectories, and associated files to the root level (C:) of the installing computer's hard drive.

Note: You can find additional information on running applications either in the Windows Documentation or from the Windows Help option located on the Program Manager's menu bar.

• Run the SETUP.EXE file located in the TCPSETUP directory that was created in Step 2.
• After the installation is complete, more detailed information can be obtained by double-clicking the README.WRI and TCP3270.HLP files located in the installed software's directory (eg. C:TCP3270).

Note: Running the SETUP.EXE file will install the TCP3270 software on your computer. It is best to use the default values when prompted for input during the installation process.

• When you access business systems on the mainframe, you must use a protocol with TCP3270 for protecting data. Follow the steps in these directions.
