Setting Up iPhone 2.0.x Mail for Exchange

Follow these steps to set up iPhone 2.0 Mail to access your UCSD Exchange e-mail account.

Before you begin, you need:

  • An Active Directory (AD) username and password. Your username is usually the first part of your UCSD e-mail address before the @ symbol. If you forgot your password, reset it.
  • An Exchange account in the UCSD Campus Exchange Organization
  • The name of the Exchange server that hosts your Exchange mailbox

Expand all

1. Set up an e-mail account using Mail.

  • If you haven't set up a Mail account on your iPhone, select Mail from the main window.
  • If you're adding a Mail account to your iPhone, select Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Add Account.

2. Select the account type.

  • Select Microsoft Exchange.

3. Enter your account information.

  • Enter your UCSD e-mail address in the Email field.
  • Enter your AD username beginning with ad as shown in the image.
  • Enter your AD password in the Password field and your UCSD e-mail address in the Description field.
  • Click Next.

4. Accept the Exchange Server Certificate.

  • If prompted, click Allow to accept the Exchange Server Certificate.

5. Enter your Exchange server.

  • Enter mail.ucsd.edu in the Server field if you use the central Exchange server. Contact your system administrator if your department uses a different server.
  • Click Next.

6. Select which features to synchronize.

  • Select the features to synchronize with your Exchange account:
    • Note: Synchronizing Contacts and Calendars with your Exchange account removes your iPhone's existing Contacts and Calendars.
  • Verify your settings if prompted. Click Save.
  • Click Sync.
