The January 2007 UCSD report to the ITLC (Information Technology Leadership Council) summarizes key computing and communications issues for the past several months. For more information, please click the Technology tab at the top of this page.
Computing
- We added individualized portlets to TritonLink, our student portal.
- A UCSD MapLink system based on Google Maps will soon be available to the campus.
- A notice went to the campus regarding data security.
- We're currently reviewing all applications for SQL Injection and Cross Domain vulnerability.
- Plans are in place for computer security training sessions for application developers.
- The Electronic Proposal repository is in production.
- We're testing joint UCOP/ UCSD disaster recovery processes.
- Completion is near for a new system of electronic course approval.
- We're developing an automated podcasting service in some of our larger classrooms.
- We replaced all the equipment in our e-mail routing system, including updates to our virus and spam abatement technologies, and upgraded operating systems.
- Sharecase 2007 is scheduled for March 28 – you are all invited.
Communications
- Verizon and Cingular coverage on campus has improved since we implemented RF over fiber optic cables.
- We upgraded the Ericsson voice switch to BC13.
