Incident Command System Training

Learn about the Incident Command System.

The National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training Program identifies those courses critical to train personnel capable of implementing all functions of emergency management. The Incident Command System (ICS) is a core component of NIMS.

These following courses are tailored for individuals with emergency management responsibilities including prevention, preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. All UC San Diego Emergency Operation Center (EOC) staff are required to take this free training (account creation via the FEMA Student Identification [SID] number page is required):

ICS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System

ICS-100 introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). ICS-100 training is offered as an Interactive web-based course:
