Emergencies or crimes in progress

Choose 1 of these options:

  • From a campus phone or pay phone, dial 9-1-1.
    From a cell phone or off-campus phone, dial (858) 534-HELP (4357).
    • Note: 911 calls originating from UCSD pay phones and campus phones are automatically routed to the UCSD Police Department and answered by trained dispatchers who can respond with police, fire, or medical assistance.
  • Go to a yellow emergency call box, located in most parking lots. Open the door of the call box, pick up the receiver, and push the red button. You will be immediately connected to a campus police dispatcher.
  • Go to an emergency call box with a blue light on top, located in most parking structures. Push the button on the call box, and you will be immediately connected to a campus police dispatcher, who will communicate with you through the call box speaker.
  • Go to a building elevator. Push the button on the intercom, located under the elevator control panel, and you will be immediately connected to a campus police dispatcher, who will communicate with you through the call box speaker.

Non-emergencies

Choose 1 of these options:

  • Dial (858) 534-HELP(4357), or Ext. 44357 from a campus phone, to reach the UCSD Police Department Communications Center, which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • Dial #8 from any pay phone located on campus.
  • File a report online at the UCSD Police Department Online Reporting System if you have been the victim of:
    • A harassment call on your personal phone
    • Theft of property worth less than $1500
    • Vandalism where property damage is less than $1500
