Institutional Animal Care and Use Program

Find out about the Institutional Animal Care and Use Program, which includes the Animal Care and Animal Welfare programs.

The UCSD Institutional Animal Care and Use Program ensures the appropriate care, use, and humane treatment of animals used for research, testing, and education. It is made up of 3 components:
  1. The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) reviews all animal use protocols and oversees the campuswide program.
  2. The Animal Welfare Program is responsible for regulatory, compliance, and IACUC support.
  3. The Animal Care Program is responsible for the care and use of animals at UCSD, including housing and veterinary care.
