Reconfiguring Your E-mail Client to Send E-mail From Off Campus

Summary: Follow the instructions below if you've received an e-mail from the UCSD postmistress notifying you that you need to reconfigure your off-campus e-mail client by Nov. 7, 2007.

On Nov. 7, 2007, UCSD will change the way outgoing e-mails are sent from off campus. You must reconfigure your e-mail client before then – if you've received an e-mail notification to do so.

To reconfigure your outgoing e-mail settings from off campus, follow the instructions below for your specific e-mail client:

Additional details: To increase security, UCSD has changed its off-campus e-mail authorization mechanism to require encrypted authentication. Your e-mail client must supply your UCSD network username and password during an SSL-encrypted connection to UCSD's server in order to send any messages. This ensures all your outgoing e-mail messages are encrypted and will prevent spammers from impersonating your e-mail address.
