B: Annual/ Occasional Use/ Limited/ One Day

A properly dated B permit provides parking in the following spaces:

  • B: 24 hours daily
    • Look for painted green squares with a white B on the ground.
  • S: 24 hours daily
    • Look for painted yellow squares with a black S on the ground.
  • A: 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.weekdays; all day on weekends
    • Look for painted red squares with a white A on the ground.
    • Note: Not valid where posted “A permit required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
  • Meters (with no fee): 4:30 p.m. – 7:45 a.m. weekdays; all day on weekends.

Note: You need an access stamp or sticker for Lots P001 - P010 and Lot P354.

A: Annual/ Occasional Use/ Limited

A properly dated A permit provides parking in the following spaces:

  • A 24/7 (reserved faculty): 24 hours daily
    • Look for posted signs: "A" permit required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • A: 24 hours daily
    • Look for painted red squares with a white A on the ground.
  • B: 24 hours daily
    • Look for painted green squares with a white B on the ground.
  • S: 24 hours daily
    • Look for painted yellow squares with a black S on the ground.
  • R: by permission only, 24 hours daily
    • Look for a "Reserved ###" sign and matching stencil on the ground.
  • Meters (with no fee): 4:30 p.m. – 7:45 a.m. weekdays; all day on weekends.

Note: You need an access stamp or sticker for Lots P001 - P010 and Lot P354.

S: Annual/ Occasional Use/ Limited

A properly dated S permit provides parking in the following spaces:

  • S: 24 hours daily
    • Look for painted yellow squares with a black S on the ground.
  • A: 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.
    • Look for painted red squares with a white A on the ground.
    • Note: Not valid where posted “A permit required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
  • B: 4:30 p.m. – 7:45 a.m.
    • Look for painted green squares with a white B on the ground.
  • Meters (with no fee): 4:30 p.m. – 7:45 a.m.

Note: You need an access stamp or sticker for Lots P001 - P010 and Lot P354.

Pay Station

A properly dated permit purchased from any pay station (except inside Gilman Parking Structure) or a 1-day permit purchased from the campus parking office provides parking for campus visitors in the following spaces:

  • V: 24 hours daily
    • Look for painted white squares with a black V on the ground.
    • Not valid in Gilman Parking Structure V spaces
  • B: 24 hours daily
    • Look for painted green squares with a white B on the ground.
  • S: 24 hours daily
    • Look for painted yellow squares with a black S on the ground.
  • A: 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.
    • Look for painted red squares with a white A on the ground.
    • Note: Not valid where posted "A permit required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."
  • Meters (with no fee): 4:30 p.m. – 7:45 a.m.

Permits purchased from a pay station inside the Gilman Parking Structure allow parking in the following spaces:

  • Gilman V 
  • V 
  • B
  • S
  • A: 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.
    • Note: Not valid where posted "A permit required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."
  • Meters (with no fee): 4:30 p.m. – 7:45 a.m.

Note: You need an access stamp or sticker for Lots P001 - P010 and Lot P354.

1 Day or 1 Night

A properly dated 1 Day or 1 Night permit lets you park for 24 hours (1 Day) or 1 evening beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the following spaces:

  • S: 24 hours (1 Day) or 4:30 p.m. to 7:45 a.m. (1 Night)
    • Look for painted yellow squares with a black S on the ground.
  • B: 24 hours (1 Day) or 4:30 p.m. to 7:45 a.m. (1 Night)
    • Look for painted green squares with a white B on the ground.
  • A: 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.
    • Look for painted red squares with a white A on the ground.
    • Note: Not valid where posted "A permit required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." 
  • V (outside Gilman Parking Structure): 24 hours (1 Day permit) or 4:30 p.m. to 7:45 a.m. (1 Night permit)
    • Look for painted white squares with a black V on the ground.
    • Also valid in Gilman Parking Structure V spaces, 3-hour max.
  • Meters (with no fee): 4:30 p.m. – 7:45 a.m.

Night/ Weekend

A valid Night/ Weekend permit provides parking weekdays and all day on weekends in the following spaces:

  • S: 3 p.m. – 7:45 a.m.
    • Look for painted yellow squares with a black S on the ground.
  • A: 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.
    • Look for painted red squares with a white A on the ground.
    • Note: Not valid where posted “A permit required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
  • B: 4:30 p.m. – 7:45 a.m.
    • Look for painted green squares with a white B on the ground.
  • Meters (with no fee): 4:30 p.m. – 7:45 a.m.

Note: You need an access stamp or sticker for Lots P001 - P010 and Lot P354.

S: Alternate Schedule

The Alternate Schedule permit provides parking for any 3 days per week of your choice, in the following spaces:

  • S: 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.
    • Look for painted yellow squares with a black S on the ground.
  • A: 4:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.
    • Look for painted red squares with a white A on the ground.
    • Note: Not valid where posted "A permit required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."
  • B: 4:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.
    • Look for painted green squares with a white B on the ground.
  • Meters (with no fee): 4:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Note: You need an access stamp or sticker for Lots P001 - P010 and Lot P354.

Official Business sticker

 

An Official Business (OB) sticker affixed to your R, A, or B parking permit is intended to facilitate parking access during official university business. It is not intended to accommodate an individual's personal parking needs.

When your valid UCSD parking permit with the OB sticker affixed is properly displayed, you may park in the following areas, subject to time limits detailed below:

  • Service yard spaces
  • UC vehicle spaces
  • Parking meters
  • Regular loading zones (excludes commercial loading zones)
  • Where posted "A parking permit required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week"
  • Red A spaces
  • Green B spaces
  • Yellow S spaces
  • White V spaces

The following limits apply, depending on your UCSD parking permit (R, A, or B), :

  • R or A permits:
    • Park in metered and V spaces up to 4 hours
    • Park in all other approved spaces for unlimited time
  • B parking permits:
    • Park in green B and yellow S spaces for unlimited time.
    • Park in all other approved spaces, including meters and V spaces, for up to 2 hours.
