Parking Checklist for New Employees

Investigate the available parking options and their requirements to decide which one is right for you.

Choose either permit parking or an alternative commute option.

Parking and commute options vary to suit your needs. Review the following options to decide which is right for you:

  • Parking permit options:
    • Annual Parking Permits
    • Short-Term Parking Permits
  • Commute Solutions offers a variety of transportation programs as alternatives to parking.

Provide UCSD identification.

Purchasing a parking permit or joining a commute program requires one of the following forms of ID:

  • UCSD ID card: See How to Get a Faculty/ Staff Campus Card
  • UCSD ID number (with picture ID): Available from your department administrator or personnel contact
  • Verification of employment letter: Available from your department administrator or personnel contact and should include:
    • Your name
    • Department
    • Job title or position
    • Hiring status — for example:
      • Career
      • Part-time
      • Temporary
    • An ending date for the position if not indefinite.

Know your payment options.

Permit payment options include:

  • Cash
  • Check
  • Money order
  • Credit card: Visa, MasterCard, and American Express (except Hillcrest)
  • Payroll deduction

Note: Vanpool members pay through payroll deduction only.
