Annual Parking Permits for Faculty and Staff

Annual permits let faculty and staff use the same permit year-round. See the various types available and current rates below.

Purchasing an annual permit requires a Campus ID Card.  University or state funds may not be used to purchase staff parking permits. University policy prohibits faculty and staff use of a university-funded permit.

A: Faculty

Note: This annual permit has been temporarily discounted for university affiliates only, effective Aug. 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010. The discount is subject to collective bargaining and has not been agreed to by all unions. Represented employees should check with their union or the parking office for eligibility.

  • Who's eligible?
    • Staff with titles in these categories:
      • Academic
      • Manager and senior professionals (MSP)
      • Emeriti faculty and retirees
    • Note: Postdoctoral students and visiting scholars are not eligible to purchase parking permits with A status.
  • Rate:
    • $93 per month
    • $1,116 per year (prorated on the 1st and 16th each month)
  • Discounted rate:
    • $88 per month
    • $1,056 per year (prorated on the 1st and 16th each month)
  • Payment options:
    • Cash
    • Check
    • Money order (except Hillcrest)
    • Credit card: Visa, MasterCard, and American Express (except Hillcrest)

B: Staff

Note: This annual permit has been temporarily discounted for university affiliates, effective Aug. 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010. The discount is subject to collective bargaining and has not been agreed to by all unions. Represented employees should check with their union or the parking office for eligibility.

    • Staff with titles in these categories:

      • Resident physician
      • Intern
    • Graduate and postdoctoral students
    • Visiting scholars
    • Outside vendors, companies, and businesses
  • Rate:
    • $81 per month for staff
    • $972 per year (prorated on the 1st and 16th each month) for outside vendors, companies, and businesses
  • Discounted rate:
    • $77 per month (staff only)
    • $924 per year (prorated on the 1st and 16th each month)
  • Payment options:
    • Cash
    • Check
    • Money order (except Hillcrest)
    • Credit card: Visa, MasterCard, and American Express (except Hillcrest)
    • Payroll deduction

Reduced-price/ Faculty/ Staff

  • Regular rate:
    • $55 per month
  • Discounted rate:
    • $624 per year
    • $52 per month
  • Special conditions:
    • Available at the Gilman Parking Office (map) only
    • Official Business or Service Yard stickers are not available for reduced-price permits.
  • Payment options:
    • Cash
    • Check
    • Money order (except Hillcrest)
    • Credit card: Visa, MasterCard, and American Express (except Hillcrest)
    • Payroll deduction
  • Where valid:
    • 24 hours: One of these lots only: P704, P705, P759, P782, and P783 (map), specified at time of purchase
    • After 4:30 p.m.: A (red) or B (green) spaces anywhere on campus

Night/ weekend annual

Note: This annual permit has been temporarily discounted for university affiliates, effective Aug. 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010. The discount is subject to collective bargaining and has not been agreed to by all unions. Represented employees should check with their union or the parking office for eligibility.

  • Purchase this permit for:
    • Night parking on campus
      or
    • Night/ weekend parking at Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) or the Hillcrest and La Jolla Medical Centers
  • Who's eligible?
    • This permit is available for all to purchase
  • Regular rate:
    • $172 per year (prorated on the 1st and 16th each month)
  • Discounted rate:
    • $13 per month
  • Payment options:
    • Cash
    • Check
    • Money order (except Hillcrest)
    • Credit card: Visa, MasterCard, and American Express (except Hillcrest)
    • Payroll deduction
  • Where valid:

R: Individual reserved space

Note: This annual permit has been temporarily discounted for university affiliates, effective Aug. 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010. The discount is subject to collective bargaining and has not been agreed to by all unions. Represented employees should check with their union or the parking office for eligibility. 

  • Who's eligible?
    • Chancellor
    • Vice chancellors
    • Associate/ assistant vice chancellors
    • Provosts
    • Institute directors
    • Academic department chairs
    • Medical Center director
    • Associate assistant directors
    • Medical division chiefs
  • Rate:
    • $174 per month
    • $2,088 per year (prorated on the 1st and 16th each month)
  • Discounted rate:
    • $165 per month
    • $1,980 per year (prorated on the 1st and 16th each month)
  • Payment options:
    • Cash
    • Check
    • Money order (except Hillcrest)
    • Credit card: Visa, MasterCard, and American Express (except Hillcrest)
    • Payroll deduction
  • Restrictions:
    • Valid in the numbered space that matches the number on the permit
    • Also valid in A, B, or S spaces
    • Use of an individual's reserved space by someone other than the owner requires both:
      • Authorization from the owner
      • Display of an A or B permit

Departmental reserved space

  • Who's eligible?
    • Official guests of any department (for use by university guests only)
    To obtain approval: Contact Fern Nailon, Parking Sales and Services Coordinator, with your reserved space request for approval by the vice chancellor – Business Affairs.
  • Rate:
    • $2,088 per year
  • Payment option:
    • Recharge
  • Restrictions:
    • Only authorized university guests may park in a reserved department parking space — no permit required.
    • Transportation Services does not issue parking permits for reserved department parking spaces.
    • The department controls access to its reserved parking space and may request enforcement as necessary.
    • UCSD employees may never park in reserved department spaces.

Note: University policy prohibits use by faculty and staff of a university-funded parking space.

M: Motorcycle

Note: This annual permit has been temporarily discounted for university affiliates, effective Aug. 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010. The discount is subject to collective bargaining and has not been agreed to by all unions. Represented employees should check with their union or the parking office for eligibility. 

  • Who's eligible?

    Anyone parking a:

    • Motorcycle
    • Motorized scooter
    • Motorized bike
  • Rate:
    • $22 per month for staff
    • $66 per quarter for students
    • $264 per year (pro-rated on the 1st and 16th each month)
  • Discounted rate:
    • $21 per month
    • $252 per year (prorated on the 1st and 16th each month)
  • Payment options:
    • Cash
    • Check
    • Money order (except Hillcrest)
    • Credit card: Visa, MasterCard, and American Express (except Hillcrest)
    • Payroll deduction
  • Where valid:
    • 24 hours: M spaces
