Incoming Packages Containing Perishables

Learn how to instruct a supplier to address a package containing perishable goods sent directly to your location.

UCSD's Receiving Department is the recommended delivery location for incoming packages. The Receiving Department protects your packages from damages, shortages, and deals with any freight claims.

If your package containing perishable goods is delivered to Receiving, your options are:

  • Receiving can deliver the package routinely — when the perishable good is delivered to Receiving it will be properly stored in the appropriate refrigerator or freezer and will be delivered the day after it is received
  • You can pick up the package yourself
  • You can arrange for pick up by Mail Services messenger service

Important: Make sure the vendor selects a carrier that meets your delivery needs.
