What You Can Buy on a Department Order

Learn what items you can buy using Department Order.

Note: Use Department Order only if your department does not yet have access to Marketplace, UCSD’s new online buying site, or the supplier you wish to buy from is not available through Marketplace. Check the list of departments and representatives (Excel) to find out if your department has access.

• If the item you're ordering is not currently available through Marketplace, use your Express Card before using Department Order.

The following is a guideline for what you can buy on a Department Order. These items may also be purchased using the Express Card. Remember to check Items Restricted from Department Order for exceptions to this general list.

If you are charging to federal funds, check with your fiscal administrator to verify the item is allowable before you place the order.
