Read step-by-step instructions to get a new Ship To code, required by the online purchasing system.

In the right place? For complete information on appropriate Ship To codes, please see Ship To Codes. To change information on an existing Ship To code, please see How To Change Information on a Ship To Code.

1. Determine if an appropriate Ship To code exists.

  • Ask your department manager or other buying personnel in your department if there is a suitable Ship To code.
  • Check Ship To Codes to see if one of the special purpose Ship To codes will do.

2. If no appropriate code exists, determine the information you will need for a new Ship To code.

  • Find out the name of a contact person or the person receiving the goods.
  • Find out the building, room number, and mail code of the contact person or the person receiving the goods.
  • Determine if the delivery of an item requires an exception to the standard UCSD Receiving address.

Note: UCSD Receiving at 7835 Trade St. is the standard campus shipping address. Please see Ship To Codes to learn about exceptions to this address.

3. Request a new Ship To code.

Send an e-mail to shipto@ucsd.edu and include the following information:

  • If the goods are to be delivered to the standard UCSD Receiving address:
    • Name of contact person or person receiving goods
    • Building, room number, and Mail Code
    • 7835 Trade St., Suite 100
      San Diego, CA 92121
    • Contact phone number
  • If the goods are to be shipped to a specific location:
    • Name of contact person or person receiving goods
    • Building, room number, and Mail Code
    • Street address, city, and ZIP code.
    • Contact phone number

4. Receive your new Ship To code.

You will be notified of your new Ship To code by return e-mail.
