Steelcase Problem Resolution

The University of California finalized a contract with Steelcase, Inc. The information below provides details on the problem resolution process.

Note: Use Marketplace, UCSD's online buying site to order Steelcase from BKM or STORE if your department has access.

  • If you're not sure that your department has access, check the list of departments and representatives (Excel) to find out.
  • If your department is listed, you can go directly to Marketplace and start shopping. If you can't find the item you want, contact the UC Call Center, (877) 722-9090 for assistance.

Background: Steelcase, UCSD's contract furniture vendor, works through BKM, a local supplier. BKM participates with Steelcase, the UC system, and UCSD in resolving problems that may arise when ordering furniture.

Types of problems that may arise:

  • The Steelcase UC Services Center fails to provide an order confirmation.
  • It's difficult to schedule an appointment with a BKM representative.
  • A BKM representative often misses or arrives late to appointments.
  • You encounter problems with scheduling deliveries or installations.
  • It's difficult to connect with your BKM representative by phone.
  • The information you have is unclear or insufficient.
  • You have questions about the fees you've been charged.
  • You're having difficulties returning a product.
  • The BKM representative is not acting quickly to resolve problems such as missing parts, damaged furniture, or incorrect installation.
