
UCSD supports a nonsmoking environment. Employees who are smokers should consult with their supervisors regarding reasonable smoke breaks and designated smoking areas.
No smoking is permitted in any indoor area, or within 25 feet of the main entrance or exit to any facility owned or leased by UCSD, including but not limited to:
Smoking policy aboard ships operated by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography is established on each cruise in consultation with the chief scientist.

Smoking cessation programs are available through the UCSD School of Medicine.
Enforcement: Any problems should be brought to the attention of the appropriate supervisor or department head. If a problem cannot be resolved in this manner, speak with the HR contact in your department or the Employee Relations specialist for your vice chancellor area. Individuals seeking assistance in enforcing this policy will not be subject to reprisal.
