Learn how agency fees and union dues are paid and link to resources for specific information on your union.

Effective Jan. 1, 2000, the University of California and the California State University systems became agency shops. As such, the university must deduct agency fees from an employee's paycheck if the employee does not belong to a union or pay member dues.
