Summary: UCSD strives to provide e-mail service for all of its affiliates. Administrative Computing & Telecommunications (ACT) provides e-mail services for faculty and staff. Academic Computing Services (ACS) provides e-mail services for students at UCSD. |
|
Faculty and staff receive e-mail service from their own departments or directly from ACT. Please contact your supervisor or department network manager for information on the services your individual department may provide.
If your department uses the UCSD popmail service, please read the information below to learn how to open an account.
- In many departments, the department network administrator has the authority to set up network usernames and passwords for popmail accounts. Please see that person first if your department has such a contact.
- If your department lacks a department network administrator with responsibility for setting up popmail accounts, and you are a staff member, postdoc, research staff or faculty member with UCSD, SIO, UCSD Medical School, or UCSD Medical Center, you can obtain a popmail account for your use by stopping by the combined ACS/ ACT Help Desk during business hours (see location below). Bring your UCSD picture ID. If you do not have one, bring your driver's license and a letter on University letterhead from your department, confirming your position and/or affiliation.
Software: You will also need to obtain and install e-mail client software on your computer. You can see a complete list of e-mail client software for which ACT has written documentation. ACT also can help you manage spam.
Students: All undergraduate students and some graduate students are provided e-mail service through ACS.
