Can't Hear Callers

Summary: If you can't hear callers when you pick up your phone, use this checklist to help solve the problem.
What to check Why to check it
Check the volume control. If the volume is turned down too low, it will interfere with incoming audio.
Try using the speakerphone. If you can hear the caller when you use your speakerphone, your handset may need repair.
Reconnect the phone line. Unplug the phone line from the wall jack, then plug it in again. This can clear up a problem with a bad connection.
