Filtering Spam in Entourage — Basic  
 
Summary: Set up mail filters to decrease junk mail (also known as spam) in your e-mail inbox. This basic form of filtering uses the spam status header to filter junk mail into a separate folder.

What to do How to do it
1 Begin creating a new rule.
  1. Open Entourage.
  2. Select Tools, and then click Rules.
  3. Click New.

2 Specify the header.
  1. For Rule name, type Spam
  2. Click the arrows next to All messages and select Specific Header.
  3. In the field next to it, type X-Spam-Flag
  4. In the field next to Contains, type YES in all caps.

3 Tell it to move messages.
  1. Click the down pointing arrow next to Change status, and select Move message.

4 Create a folder.
  1. Click the arrows next to Inbox, and select Choose folder.
  2. Click New Folder.

5 Name the folder.
  1. Type Spam in the Name field.
  2. Click Create to continue. The new Spam rule will show up in your Rules window.
  3. Close the window.

6 Pay attention to filtered spam.
  1. Incoming e-mail that appears to be spam will automatically be moved to the new folder you created.
  2. It's possible for legitimate e-mail to be marked as spam.
  3. Periodically check the contents of the Spam folder to ensure that this has not occurred before deleting its contents.
