Summary: Learn about the UCSD Staff Association Impact Award.

The annual UCSD Staff Association Impact Award honors an outstanding UCSD employee whose actions and leadership have either:

  • Made a clear and significant difference on the job that furthers UCSD's mission: teaching, research, and public service; or
  • Made a positive impact on the local or global community

The 2007 nomination deadline is Nov. 16, 2007. The $500 award will be presented at the Council of University of California Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) conference at UCSD on Dec. 7, 2007.

To be eligible, an employee must be:

  • In good standing, with an "S" or better on the last performance appraisal and have been at UCSD for 3 months
  • Employed by UCSD at the time of nomination
    • Note: Staff classified as senior management and those serving on the selection committee are not eligible to receive this award.

Selection criteria: Sustained effort and accomplished results are the main focus. Nominees must clearly demonstrate outstanding contributions or significant impact either at UCSD or within the community. The impact should further the goals of UCSD or advance the greater community it serves, consistent with UCSD's mission. Key areas for consideration are:

  • Outstanding job performance
    • Demonstrated and sustained outstanding performance that consistently exceeds goals and job expectations in quantity and quality, resulting in significant achievement or significant impact upon UCSD
  • Creativity
    • One-time innovation or creation resulting in a significant impact (either monetary or humanitarian) to UCSD or the community
  • Teamwork
    • Acting as an exceptionally effective and cooperative member of a team dedicated to making positive change
    • Demonstrating superior interactions and a positive influence on managers, peers, supervisors, subordinates, and the university community
  • Community work
    • Active and meaningful participation in a local or state non-profit, community-based organization(s), resulting in a significant contribution to the community
  • Organizational/ leadership abilities
    • Demonstrated extraordinary leadership resulting in the accomplishment of significant goals or objects that serve the good of UCSD or the community
    • Significant community improvement or significant project management

Submitting a nomination: Each nomination must provide specific information about the individual and their impact on UCSD or the community.

  • Complete a nomination form (Word file), and e-mail as an attachment to Rich LaClair-Zoehrer.
  • Deadline to submit nominations is Nov. 16, 2007.

The selection committee consists of a diverse group of staff including representatives from the Black Staff Association, Chicano/ Latino Staff Association, Faculty and Staff Christian Fellowship, Pan-Asian Staff Association, UJIMA Network, LGBT Faculty and Staff Association, and UCSD Staff Association.
