Blink and TritonLink subject matter experts often link to Blink or TritonLink pages in campus notices, staff announcements, and other types of communications. Because typical URLs are often long and complicated, Blink has created friendly URLs, which are shorter and easy to remember.
If you need to check Blink's friendly URL directory, just go to http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/. You can scroll through an alphabetical list to see all existing friendly URLs.
Follow this process when you publish information that contains a friendly URL:
- Go to http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/.
- Look for the topic of the URL in the Link Name column on the left.
Example: Open Enrollment
- Click the link in the Link column on the right to make sure the friendly URL goes to the page you have in mind.
Example: /Blink/External/Topics/Policy/0,1162,3083,00.html.
- Add http://blink.ucsd.edu before the /go section of the URL.
Example: http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/openenroll
Note: Some friendly URLs have prefixes other than /go. Treat these URLs the same, e.g., http://blink.ucsd.edu/menu/benefits.
- Test the link you've created before you publish it.
- If you use a URL that belongs to another unit, department, or content area, please let the appropriate staff member in that area know.
