When you arrange UCSD business travel through UCSD's partner travel agency Balboa Travel:
- You must have an event number (generated when you use TravelLink to preauthorize the event).
- A service fee applies. All travel agencies and many travel Web sites charge service fees.
The UCSD Travel Team works with Balboa to keep fees low. UCSD's partner agency service fees remain highly competitive compared to other agencies and other university travel programs. In addition, UCSD travelers, travel preparers, and the university benefit in other important ways when you use Balboa Travel.
Tip: You can keep service fees to a minimum by avoiding changes to your itinerary and using electronic rather than paper ticketing.
