UC San Diego Fleet Services enforces the following requirements for its passenger vans that seat 10 or more people:
- All drivers must be identified on the rental/lease agreement.
- All drivers must have a current Class B (commercial) driver license with a passenger endorsement and green medical card.
- No minors (children under 18 years of age) may be transported in passenger vans that seat more than 10 people. This is in accordance with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) policy and California Vehicle Code, Section 545.
- No vehicle may be used for any purposes except those noted on the rental/lease agreement.
- The department renting or leasing the vehicle must notify each driver of his/her individual liability for any accident/incident and restrictions relating to the vehicle.
Note: These apply to all passenger vans designed to seat 10 or more people, regardless of their configuration to limit seating or carry cargo.
