Volunteer Services Program at UCSD Medical Center

Summary: Learn about the many different services and opportunities offered by UCSD's Medical Center Volunteer Program.

The Volunteer Services Program supports UCSD Medical Center personnel in their activities of patient care, education, and research. Volunteers supplement but don't replace the regular professional staff, freeing staff to provide the highest quality of patient care.

About 800 volunteers participate in the Volunteer Services Program at any one time. The program offers year-round opportunities to people who can provide at least 100 hours of service during a six-month period. The program includes:
  • Adults
  • College students
  • High school students during the summer months
  • San Diego community chaplains
